🚨🚨RISE UP FOR ROJAVA🚨🚨 Tonight I was proud to stand in solidarity with the Kurdish People of Bradford alongside many comrades as we heard the stories from men, women and children whose lives have been shaped by war.
Prior to Erdogan’s illegal invasion of Rojava-this part of the Middle East provided the world with a real sense of hope-direct democracy, feminism and ecological justice central and people provided with shelter, water, food and fuel.
Over 10,000 people gave their lives to defeat ISIS in this region-Erdogan’s approach will only see more extremists emerge which is why the international community must do more to stand against the injustices and human rights abuses that have taken place. Despite the developments today lots more needs to be done.
Our own Government-for a start-should cease selling arms to Turkey, economic sanctions should be imposed on the Turkish Government and Erdogan needs to held to account for the abuses he has caused against the Kurdish community and other minorities.
On a local level I promised to help do the following: 📍Bring a motion to the next full council meeting in December to show solidarity with the Kurdish People 📍Create a space/group to ensure the voices of the Kurdish community are heard and action taken on their concerns 📍Connect with other influencers, decision makers and groups regionally and nationally to ensure the plight of the Kurdish Community is heard and acted upon to ensure justice is brought about and the war stopped ✍️Sign the petition here - https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/276661 ✍️ #riseup4rojava #rojava #bradford
