Sappy and personal story ahead ⚠️ For those of you who haven’t been following my insta journey from the beginning, you may not know that my pup Theo is a cancer survivor! I started this account in May, and it was around that time I found a small scab looking bump on Theo’s side. I really didn’t think it was anything to concerning so I left it for a couple of weeks. When it wasn’t going away, I knew I needed to bring him in. I honestly thought it was potentially a flee, or something along those lines. When the vet brought him to the back after having a look at it, I saw the look on her face and my heart dropped. I knew it was something worse then what I was preparing for. She came back into the room and told me to join her in the back. She had me look under the microscope they were looking at and described the cells and how they matched something called a “mast cell tumor”. And that they are cancerous. I never thought in a million years my year and a half old dog could get cancer?! I went into fix it mom mode, and held it together at the vet somehow. He went in for emergency surgery the following morning. It was a stressful and scary time, but thankfully we caught it in the early stages. It hadn’t spread and they got rid of any cancerous cells. With mast cell tumours, they’re known to return. So I’m constantly thanking my lucky stars that he is doing well and I still have my crazy little buddy! I appreciate all the moments I get with him. For those of you who have pets, you know how much they mean to you & are part of the family. Give them lots of love and never take the time for granted! (This is one of my favorite photos of Theo because his lip is tucked under his lip and he looks like he’s smiling 😂) .
* Side note: you never know what someone is going through behind closed doors. Here on insta we show our highlight reel and it can often come off as perfect. Just remember we all have struggles in our lives that come in all “shapes and sizes” but none of us are perfect, and no ones life is perfect. I think that it’s important for us to remember this, behind all the beautiful photos are just human beings, going through their own journey 🖤
