I changed my life, when I changed my mindset. Not my diet. Please read that again.

I get emotional even typing that. It wasn’t that long ago where most of my days felt like straight up suffering. I felt a constant “unwell” and truly believed something was wrong with me. I had symptoms and conditions to “prove” it but there wasn’t anything outside of me that was going to change how I FELT inside of me. I knew I could no longer look for things outside of me (diet, supplements, medication, etc) to change how I felt inside of me.

It was my turn to do the real work, I had to step out of that thinking and start creating a new story, new neurological networks, new programs and believe what I now know to be true and that is I’m 100% well/healthy/happy.

I had to stop living in fear of my health and the foods I was eating. I made a decision to step into my power of radiant health. I deserve to be healthy therefore I am healthy.

Your diet is not only what you eat. It’s what you watch, what you listen to, what your read, the thoughts you think, and the people you surround yourself with.

This is a simple reminder on #worldmentalhealthday to be mindful of the things you put into your body, emotionally, spiritually and physically. Reflecting on death is a way to reflect on how we are living. Human life is brief and surely it is not news to us that we will die. But how deeply do we know that the end of rising is falling, that the end of meeting is parting, and that the end of living is dying?

Have we learned this truth so well that we no longer grasp at transient things? Is this knowledge so vivid that attention to sickness, old age and death does not produce aversion, despair and fear but fixes our own attention on the impermanence of our own life?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
By remembering death we keep our priorities clear, and waste no time. Opportunities for practice and to grow in virtue, concentration and wisdom are precious, so we should appreciate them even when things are difficult. Every day, whatever we do, we trade a day of our life for it.

We see reminders of death each day, but do we use those opportunities to reflect? When we step accidentally (or not) on an insect, when a fly perishes on a windowsill, when we drive by an animal killed on the road...

Open a photo album and reflect on those who have already passed away, and also that people you know and love all die. But also reflect that it is not just to others that death comes. Contemplate the phrase "I also will die," so that this certain knowledge of death deepens enough to stir a sense of living a meaningful life where you pursue a true and lasting happiness that does not depend on conditions and transient things.

Getting upside down helps to reduce stress and anxiety symptoms as it may help to increase more blood flow into the brain and calm the mind. Headstands in particular have many more health benefits (look them up! 😉)

Last night I talked about ANXIETY on my story, and how I took action to deal with it in the way that I considered suited me best right there and then.

Cuando propuse estas prácticas de profundización pensé en muchas personas que pasaron por mi estudio y que actualmente por diversos motivos no podían venir regularmente. Si bien la práctica de Yôga requiere regularidad, sentí que ofrecer este espacio era una manera de impulsar a quienes por algún motivo no estaban viniendo a qué puedan tener un tiempo de contacto. Por otro lado pensé que quienes concurren a otras escuelas podían tener la opción de participar de una clase para incursionar en el Yôga Tántrico.

Si bien es una practica mas extendida es accesible para todo practicante ya que se trata de darle un poco más de espacio a cada técnica en un tiempo más prolongado que una clase regular. Esto la convierte en una clase posible para todo practicante. .

Progressie is iets wat we allemaal nastreven, maar in veel gevallen beperkt effectief wordt toegepast

Neem nou jou trainingen. Hoevaak ben jij training na training in staat om daadwerkelijk progressie te maken op de oefeningen binnen jouw trainingsschema. In theorie zou dit iedere training moeten lukken. Vaak lukt dit echter niet bij iedereen, door inefficiënte programmering, leefstijl factoren die niet op orde zijn of de wil/motivatie/overtuiging om echt harde progressie te maken ontbreekt.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀
In het leven is dit in feite niet anders. We willen allemaal progressie boeken, alleen het continu blijven boeken van progressie is iets wat voor weinige lijkt weggelegd. Meer en meer kom ik zelf tot de conclusie dat het wel of niet maken progressie in het leven, veel gelijkenissen heeft met het maken van progressie in de sportschool. Vaak ontbreekt het aan een efficiënte planning, zijn de leefstijl factoren niet op orde, en/of ontbreekt de echte wil/motivatie/overtuiging om echt harde progressie te maken.

Progressie is mogelijk voor iedereen, zolang jij jouw dagen maar effectief weet te programmeren, jouw leefstijl in lijn is met de progressie die jij ambieert en beschikt over de wil/motivatie/overtuiging, is progressie mogelijk voor iedereen 💯

So I’m going to tell you a story. ⁣
⁣
Ive struggled with anxiety and depression tendencies since high school but i was always against getting any help for myself despite being very pro everyone else get the help they need. ⁣
⁣
Ive always been stubborn and i put a lot of pressured pride on myself for being “strong” and “resilient.” And, i suppose i was. I am. ⁣
⁣
Ive gone to counseling a handful of times over the years but never felt like anyone got me or perhaps i still didn’t fully believe. ⁣
⁣
After getting out of a very abusive relationship last year, i thought everything was up from there but it seemed as soon as i was safe from that situation, the flood gates opened. I allowed myself to feel everything where as before i was somehow protecting myself. All the sudden, my anxiety was amplified. My depression was more prominent. And my motivation and concentration is crap. ⁣
⁣
So finally i decided i need the one thing i was so against (for myself) - medication. Ive been taking this medicine for almost two months and while I’m not at my absolute best, I’m much better. Im more productive - although my concentration still needs a lot of work. I’m not as anxious - although still pretty anxious. I pull myself out of depression a bit easier. Needing medicine to help me doesn’t make me less strong. ⁣

Needing medicine, or counseling, or even just someone to listen doesn’t make you weak either. ⁣

Being World Mental Health Day what a perfect time to announce our new mindfulness workshop: Immune Boosting and Mindfulness Breathe

Taking place Thursday October 17th, 2019 at 06.45pm – 8.00pm

Today might be #WorldMentalHealthDay but to to us every day is vital when it comes to managing your mental state. 
This workshop is for all levels focusing on mindful breathing and a flow-based class to strengthen your immune system and work on relaxing the mind. When our body is under emotional stress the physical body has to work extra hard for everything to flow harmoniously.

I'm learning about fluidity these days. Mechanics meeting flow. I'm introducing my knowledge from Animal Flow, personal training, yoga, and my psychology degree to my love of fluid movement and dance. Maybe they don't have to be separate. Maybe I can do fitness, mindfulness, and art all at the same time.

Sometimes that looks like going for therapy, sometimes it looks like going to bed early. 
Sometimes that looks like distancing yourself from negative influences, sometimes it looks like having a hug for the longest time with someone you love. 
Sometimes you can look after yourself and sometimes you need help. We all need help. And we are all here to help each other. 
Please know that you are never alone, even in the darkest hours, even when you feel like you are totally alone. I am always here and I will always listen. Other people will too. They works their booty’s off to make sure your home is clean and cleansed. Sometimes the best way to empower someone with their mental health is to empower and support yourself so you can properly support them, hear them and embrace their pain without absorbing. Poorly mental health sucks balls, whether you’re experiencing it yourself or watching someone you dearly love suffer, crumble and lose themselves. Sometimes in an attempt to ‘fix’ and ‘rescue’ them from their pain it can be easy to lose sight of oneself. Lose sight of the precious wonders and tools readily available to us and for us to share with that precious loved one to truly enable them to work THROUGH their dis- ease rather than deny, bury and disassociate. One of the most powerful ways of dis identifying oneself from destructive thought patterns is to embrace them like a child. Give them a safe place to be heard without judgement. This experience of life is so so precious. We owe it to ourselves and loved ones to work lovingly on our own healing, in whatever form, and from whatever cause our discomfort has arisen. So we have strong foundations from which everyone can grow.

I am hugely grateful for my own mental well-being 🙏🏻 that being said I need to acknowledge that I have scars and repercussions from past experiences... on my IGTV ( not technical enough to have managed to share on the feed 🙈🤷🏼‍♀️) I share a personal experience from 2 days ago and a ‘tool’ that has helped me many times process undesirable thought patterns.

As you may have already seen on my stories, my week isn’t going great so far 😂 I feel like when you’re in a bit of a funk, every little thing triggers you and your funk then becomes one huge big MESS (like my kitchen was last night after smashing the contents of this dish all over my cabinets). I’m usually quite good at turning negatives into positives and always seeing the good but I tell you what, this week I’ve just wanted to wrap myself in bubble wrap and not move in fear of things going wrong 😂 BUT, in spite of my pan smashing, staining my carpet with coffee, cutting myself shaving and bleeding on my white bed sheets, finding a mouldy Tupperware under the seat of my car, having a cold, getting a flat tyre AND my new shoes giving me blisters, I’ve still eaten delicious and nutritious meals, slept well, moved my body, ticked lots of my to do list at work, spent time with my loved ones, read at night time and drank lots of water and no alcohol (👏🏼). What I’m trying to say is that there’s always good blurred in between the lines of the bad and it’s about time we start focusing on that instead. So, I wasn’t going to post this photo of my delicious Daal before the dish smashed but actually, it ended up being bloody delish and I sat and ate it with my mum whist we talked about life AND I had it for lunch and enough to put in the freezer for a later date so screw you mercury and your silly retrograde or whatever it is that has caused my funk.
