“That’s right. I AM THE PUMPKIN KING!”
The Nightmare Before Christmas is such a classic movie. Iconic characters, designs, and music!! Not to mention, my favorite animation style, stop motion. Even if you haven’t seen it, I’m almost certain you’ve seen something from it as a Halloween decoration.
So this was a huge project. Well over 200 layers not including smart objects. I actually wanted to put about another five hours into it to add more details but I was trying to get it done before I head to Oregon for a few days. The hill was made by warping a few images over and over until I got the desired shape. The pumpkins were made using plain 3D pumpkins from pixelsquid, then masking out a face, and then hand painting the insides and outsides of them. The fence is also completely hand painted, Couldn’t find an image I liked so I just drew it. I would love to put more detail into it but the majority of it is super tiny and won’t be seen. I gotta stop adding details to areas that will barely be seen 🤦🏻♂️
Anyway, I had a ton of fun making this one. Easily put over 30 hours into it, some of that was testing methods to get the Hill right, and also bouncing back and forth between a few different layouts. I didn’t get a chance to make the layer breakdown for my story but as soon as I’m back I’ll make it and post it on my story for you all!
Background composited using pexels and unsplash. Shoutout to @pixelsquid360 for having awesome 3D stuff (the tree, base pumpkins, gravestones). Jack is from deviantart.
