10 YEARS AGO I DIDN’T KNOW WHAT WAS COMING.
It’s weird to think about the past and what you thought your life was going to be. At 23 I was singing, writing music, recording, and performing because I was working towards becoming a pop singer... all while working as a nanny and practicing my graphic design skills to make my CD covers and gig flyers. I was dating a French guy and I could have sworn that I was going to live romantically in Paris with him. NONE OF THAT HAPPENED!
But during that time, it was preparing me for the life that I am living today. Every single one of those experiences shaped a part of me that would allow me to handle the scenarios that I have been placed in. Every single one of those experiences aligned and got me to where I am today. A creative lead at this international skincare company while being happily married (no that’s not an exaggeration) with my husband and enjoying time with our puppy son Finn.
At the time I never imagined that graphic design and the music industry would allow me to direct/produce videos, art direct visuals for large campaigns and help create a brand identity. But what helped, was allowing myself to learn from every experience and not taking it for granted. .
Writing music helped me create marketing emails, being in music videos and magazine photo shoots allowed me to direct and make others comfortable in front of the camera. That awful 8 year breakup, allowed me to learn how I should treat my partner. Every experience is an opportunity to learn. Things will happen to us everyday but we decide how we want to use that information and how we will apply it to our lives.
